Located off I-90 at Exit 126 in historic downtown Gillette, Wyoming, ‘Magpie Designs’ is a fun, eclectic lifestyle boutique that adheres to every kind of style. Opened in 2014 and owned by Tara Stoneking, it is the only place in Wyoming that sells Annie Sloan Chalk Paint©.

‘Magpie Designs’ specializes in locally made Wyoming products that are hand-crafted by artisans. With ever-changing merchandise, Tara keeps ‘Magpie Designs’ constantly revolving with the newest trends, beautiful home decor, stylish clothes, and cute souvenirs.

FUN FACT:
The building that ‘Magpie Designs’ is in was built in 1898, and served as Gillette’s first city hall. Plays, traveling shows, dances, boxing matches, meetings, photo exhibits, church services, and political rallies were all held in the building. In 1911, a jail was added on to the original building and used up through the late 1930s.
‘Magpie Designs’ was the only building featured in Gillette during the Wyoming Preservation Month (May). All of the original jail and building still stand today and are used as part of the store. Of course, what do you expect with old buildings, especially old jails? That’s right- there’s a mischievous ghost who enjoys knocking merchandise off stands!
