Happy National Road Trip Day!

Have you started planning your 2019 summer road trip yet?

Too often we’re so focused on getting from Point A to Point B that we forget that the reason we choose ROAD TRIPS versus AIRPLANES is to see more during the journey. Here are some great reasons why driving slower on your road trips is better!

  1. Better gas mileage. Although we love reminiscing the times when gas was less than $2 a gallon (or even less than $1/gal!), the truth is that gas can be the highest cost of a road trip, not counting food/lodging.
  2. Safer. It’s no secret that (1) speed can kill, and (2) driving slower raises your awareness! You can pay attention to more things happening down the road or along the sides of the interstates.
  3. Better chance of not missing some pretty cool roadside attractions! Going slower gives you more time to slow down, and pull off.
  4. Visiting historical markers & other sweet spots! Personally, we love stopping at historical markers, but if we’re going too fast it can be hard to spot them. By driving slower, the historical marker signs along the interstates and highways are more visible.
  5. Wear and tear. A more technical reason – going slower reduces and slows the wear on your car. Road trips are what cars are built for! But driving slower keeps your car healthier longer.

2019 Road Trip Challenge!

In light of National Road Trip Day, add a little spontaneity to your next trip! Try getting off at a random interstate exit; and explore a little! It provides a nice break from the interstate, and you might find some really cool things or a neat business that you might otherwise never have seen before!

That’s how we found Paxton’s Corner Coop for ‘Best of the Interstate.’ Watch the video here!

Last but not least, driving slower lets you learn about and stop at more of the ‘Best of the Interstate’ and the awesome businesses that belong! By driving slower, you’re less likely to pass by one.

You can learn about all the ‘best’ businesses and attractions off the United States interstates at www.BestofTheInterstate.com

Make your road trip just as much about the journey as it is the destination, and slow down!

It’s safer, cheaper, more fun, and provides you the opportunity to make this year’s road trip the BEST one ever!
