(because no, you're not there yet!)

Here at America’s Road Trip, we like to promote road trip games that’ll get you (and your kids) off your phones and looking out the window. “Good old fashioned fun!” is what we call it.
So enjoy our list below of the best interactive road trip games out there, and hit the road!
“Because the greatest part of a road trip isn’t the destination – it’s all the wild stuff that happens along the way.”
1. The License Plate Game.
Easy, classic – fun for everyone. If you don’t know already, the goal in this game is to find cars with license plates from all 50 states. The first person to get to all 50, wins.
2. The Alphabet License Plate Game.
A little more modern, this one’s goal is for each person to get through the alphabet using letters from license plates along the way. (The hardest ones are Q and X!)
3. I SPY.
You better all know how to play this game, but for the sake of reviewing… Someone is in charge of “Spying” anything (“I spy with my little eye something blue…”) and the other person has to guess what it is.
4. License Plate Map.
For this game you’ll need: (to print) a black and white outlined map of the United States, a box of crayons, and a clipboard. The way to play this game is to color in each state that you drive through. Click here to get your all-in-one pack here, and starting traveling!
5. Travel Bingo.
Super retro, this one retains its place in our list of the 10 Best Road Trip Games. Our favorite brand of Travel Bingo is from Regal Games (get a 4-pack of the Original Travel Bingo here) – it keeps kids looking outside (instead of down at their phones), and is fun for the whole family. Just like regular bingo, the first one to get 5 shutter windows in a row calls Bingo!
6. 20 Questions.
While perhaps not the best game to play if you’re already annoyed at a family member who won’t stop asking questions, this game could help change those questions from “Are we there yet?” to “Does it have two feet?” Another classic, someone thinks of something (within a category told to the other players [i.e. animals], and if no one guesses what it is within 20 questions, the person gets to think of something else.
7. Hedbanz.
This game actually has an app for your phone, or can be purchased as a board game. One person is wearing a headband with a card that has something on it, and the person, using clues, has to guess what is pictured on their card within a certain time limit, or they lose.
8. Hangman.
All this game requires is a piece of paper and something to write with. The object is for someone to pick a word or phrase, and the others to guess letters. Any letter not in the phrase means a body part drawn on the hangman.
9. Loaded Questions on the Go.
Pictured below, this is a newer version of the classic “Who Said What?” game. Fun for all ages, this is definitely a must on any road trip! Also, it is Made in the USA which is a huge plus with America’s Road Trip.
10. Mad Libs.
Saving (what I believe to be) the best for last, MadLibs is the classic Road Trip game. Fun, creative, and absolutely hysterical sometimes, this’ll stop the “Are we there yet?” and “How much further?” questions for sure. Get your Mad Libs on the Road here and start mad-libbing!
Make sure to check out the Best of the Interstate, where you can easily find all the best attractions and businesses along the U.S. interstates. The Best of the Interstate helps to make your road trip about the journey just as much as it is about the destination!
