Located off I-25 at Exit 188A in Casper, ‘Backwards Distilling Company’ is a local craft distillery with a Tasting Room {Ages 21+} in Downtown Casper. The distillery, just down the road in Mills, WY, offers tours on Saturdays and Sundays. (Scroll to ‘Book A Tour’ at bottom of page)
Opened in 2014, ‘Backwards’ is owned and operated by the Pollack family – siblings Amber and Chad (head distiller), and parents Bill and Kathy. You could say it is a “spirited“ family business.
Fun Fact! The name ‘BACKWARDS’ came from Bill, Amber, Chad, and Kathy! A family who has always sought out aspects of the world that are unique, a bit quirky, and that fall outside the norm, they imagined a brand that would reflect and celebrate these traits.

”Backwards Distilling Company’ creates grain-to-bottle, high quality, hand-crafted spirits. Their products include Strongman Gin, Ringleader Vodka, Sword Swallower Rum, Milk Can Moonshine, American Whiskey, and Contortionist Gin.
All of the ‘Backwards’ spirits are distilled in Casper, WY, from local grains. The company takes pride in producing an all-local product, without sourcing out ingredients. ‘Backwards Distilling Company’ also makes their own ginger beer, fresh juices, and syrups for craft cocktails served at the Tasting Room.
In Downtown Casper, the ‘Backwards Distilling Co. Tasting Room’ is decorated in a modern Victorian fashion with a circus twist; a favorite of locals and tourists alike, it attracts people of all ages – from those celebrating their 21st birthdays to those celebrating their 86th birthdays!
With award-winning products and craft-cocktails, the ‘Backwards Tasting Room’ is a great place for socializing and having fun! Proud of the fact that they have no TVs like other bars, the atmosphere is incredible. Imagine a packed house on a Friday night – and not one single customer looking at their phone!
